Baznas provides psychosocial support services for children affected by NTT earthquake
The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI has deployed psychosocial support services for children surviving the earthquake in Pota Village, Sambi Rampas District, East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment, stated that the psychosocial assistance is focused on recovering the trauma and emotional conditions of children in the affected areas. “This psychosocial assistance is crucial so that earthquake survivors can reduce excessive anxiety and return to being cheerful amidst the emergency situation,” Idy said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Idy emphasised that Baznas is committed to continuing its support for earthquake-affected residents, not only by meeting physical needs but also by restoring the mental condition of victims, particularly vulnerable groups. He urged all levels of society to continue strengthening solidarity and mutual cooperation in distributing aid to accelerate the recovery of earthquake survivors in NTT.
“We want to ensure that all the rights of children affected by the disaster are met, including their right to feel safe and receive protection,” said Idy Muzayyad.
It is reported that as of 31 August 2026, during the disaster response operation in NTT, Baznas has deployed 90 field personnel, the Baznas Healthy House team, operational fleets, and the Baznas Disaster Response Posts to serve residents in six affected regencies: Nagekeo, Manggarai, East Manggarai, Ngada, Ende, and Sikka.
Furthermore, Baznas has operated 53 humanitarian service posts, distributing 52,550 food portions through public kitchens with a capacity of 7,450 portions per day, clean water through water kitchens at a rate of 3,500 glasses per day, 928 family logistics packages, hygiene kits, blankets, tarpaulins, emergency schools, and healthcare services for 619 patients across seven handling points.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government is committed to developing NTT gradually down to the village level to increase regional productivity and community welfare. According to him, development will be carried out evenly, starting from the regency, district, and village levels. “Regency by regency, district by district, village by village, we will build. Our people must live well and prosper,” said President Prabowo.
