Baznas provides prosthetic arm for people with disabilities in Bogor

The arrival of the new prosthetic arm not only aids physically but also restores confidence as he works helping his father in the fields.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Zakat Agency Baznas RI distributed prosthetic arms to people with disabilities in the Cijeruk area, Bogor Regency, West Java, in order to widen access and independence for vulnerable groups so they can be more productive.

Beneficiary Asep Saefudin expresses gratitude for the aid. Born with an imperfect left hand, the farm labourer from Pasir Pogor often felt ashamed when going about outside the home.

‘The arrival of the new prosthetic arm not only helps physically but also restores confidence when working helping my father in the fields,’ Asep said in a Jakarta statement on Friday.

‘We are very moved to see Kang Asep’s spirit, who continues working hard as a farm labourer despite his limitations. Baznas is here to ensure that physical limitations should not be an obstacle for someone to earn a living,’ he added.

Saidah noted that the prosthetic arm is given so that Asep is more comfortable and confident in daily activities.

Saidah hopes this aid can spur economic independence for the beneficiaries.

‘Zakat must be a real solution to social problems, including providing independence for people with disabilities. We hope this prosthetic arm becomes a ’new hand’ that brings blessings and a renewed spirit for Kang Asep to remain productive and empowered for his family,’ Saidah Sakwan said.
