The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI has installed electrical lighting systems and distributed ready-to-eat meals to communities affected by the fire in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta.

“After conducting an initial emergency response, Baznas RI is continuing its efforts by installing electrical lighting and distributing ready-to-eat meals for those impacted by the Kemayoran fire,” stated Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment at Baznas RI, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Idy noted that this step is part of Baznas RI’s commitment to continuously support communities affected by disasters. He emphasised that the basic needs of residents are the primary focus of Baznas RI during the post-fire phase, particularly regarding the lighting and food requirements still needed by survivors.

“At the disaster site, resources are very limited, including access to lighting at night. Therefore, Baznas RI is working to provide electrical lighting installations so that the community can carry out activities more safely and comfortably during the recovery period,” he said.

He reaffirmed that the organisation will continue to monitor the situation on the ground to ensure that the aid distributed meets the specific needs of the affected community. Idy also ensured that all assistance provided is sourced from the zakat, infaq, and alms (ZIS) entrusted to Baznas by donors (muzaki) to help those in need.

“We ensure that all the trusts from the muzaki distributed through Baznas are used for the welfare of the people, including helping the fire victims in Kemayoran, Jakarta,” said Idy Muzayyad.

It is reported that the fire struck a densely populated residential area on Jalan Haji Ung or Pasar Jiung, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Monday night (1/6).
