The National Amil Zakat Body (Baznas) continues to channel assistance to the people of Gaza, Palestine, who are observing Ramadan fasting during an ongoing humanitarian crisis. The assistance comprises 1,314 iftar meal packages.

Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad revealed that the distribution of these meals is a top priority for Baznas to ensure Palestinians can break their fast with adequate nutrition amidst difficult conditions.

“During this Ramadan, food needs in Gaza have become many times more critical. Through these iftar meal packages, we want to ensure our brothers and sisters there still have the strength to observe their fasting obligation and feel genuine support from the Indonesian people,” said Noor Achmad in a written statement on Saturday (28 February).

He emphasised that this distribution represents a strategic measure to ensure food availability for Gaza residents amidst limited logistical access during Ramadan.

“This aid package is a trust from the Indonesian people that must reach those in need. Baznas is committed to continuing efforts to channel assistance consistently to ensure basic needs of Gaza residents are met whilst they observe their fasting obligation in this difficult situation,” he asserted.

Noor Achmad added that although logistical distribution in Gaza faces challenges due to the unstable situation, Baznas continues coordinating with humanitarian partners in the field so that aid can be delivered quickly and accurately.

“Ramadan is a month of sharing and caring. We strive to ensure Baznas’s presence in Gaza can ease the hardship of those who have lost their homes and livelihoods, so they can still break their fast with dignity,” he added.

He also invited all Indonesian people to continue supporting their brothers and sisters facing difficult circumstances. “Zakat strengthens not only in Indonesia, but also strengthens the global humanitarian mission,” he concluded.
