The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia is prepared to distribute zakat fitrah packages for 1447 H/2026 M comprising 625 tonnes of premium rice to underprivileged communities across 36 provinces, reaching remote corners of Indonesia.

Rulli Kurniawan, Director of Services, Promotion, and Data Optimisation at Baznas RI and Chairman of the Ramadan Committee of Baznas RI 2026, announced that all preparation stages have been completed. “The packaging of zakat fitrah has been finished. We are now ready to begin distribution,” Rulli stated.

Beyond focusing solely on distribution, Rulli emphasised that this year’s zakat fitrah programme prioritises economic empowerment aspects, consistent with previous years’ initiatives. The rice distributed to beneficiaries is not merely purchased from open markets but sourced from farmer beneficiaries participating in the Baznas Food Barn programme.

“Farmer beneficiaries sell their rice to Baznas. This increases their income. The rice is then distributed to other beneficiaries. Economic circulation occurs,” he explained.

He added that this approach generates multiplier effects. “This is the strength of giving zakat fitrah to Baznas—there is an empowerment aspect and multiplier effect. It provides happiness not only to zakat fitrah recipients but also to farmer beneficiaries. There is increased farmer income, economic circulation in villages, and equitable distribution through Baznas’s national network,” he said.

Separately, Noor Achmad, Chairman of Baznas RI, announced that this year’s zakat fitrah distribution targets approximately 300,000 beneficiaries, both in Jakarta and in various other regions such as Sumatra, Central Java, East Java, and remote areas throughout Indonesia. The entire distribution process will be operated through the Baznas network, which operates in 514 districts and cities.

Noor Achmad also invited the public to promptly fulfil their zakat fitrah obligations through Baznas to ensure distribution is more targeted, measurable, and delivers broader empowerment impacts for the Muslim community.

“We ensure that zakat distributed through Baznas reaches the eight eligible groups who are in need,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, Ajat Sudarjat, Head of the Distribution and CSR Division of Baznas RI, revealed that purchasing rice from farmer beneficiaries increases their income by approximately 60 per cent.

“This means zakat fitrah not only assists recipients but also empowers farmers and stimulates rural economy. There is increased welfare and economic circulation in villages. This is most important—zakat fitrah can strengthen Indonesia, especially in rural areas,” Ajat stated.

“Distribution is scheduled to commence the following week to numerous districts and cities throughout Indonesia,” he added.

The National Zakat Agency has established the 2026 zakat income nisab at Rp7,640,144 per month or Rp91.68 million per year, based on 14-karat gold prices. Funds collected for zakat, alms, and endowment will be managed with trust and professionalism and directed towards programmes with direct impact for beneficiaries.
