Baznas Partners with KSMI to Develop Youth and Empower Mustahik
The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI and the Indonesian Mini Football Committee (KSMI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the development and empowerment of mustahik through the sport of mini football. Baznas RI Chairman Sodik Mudjahid stated in Jakarta on Thursday that the collaboration represents a strategic step in utilising sport as a means of character building, developing the potential of the younger generation, and empowering the community. “The ultimate goal of every organisational mission is character education. We currently need that character education. In this context, football is a part of sport that can serve as a vehicle for character education,” he said. Additionally, Baznas and KSMI will organise a national-level mini football championship, provide educational assistance for underprivileged, high-achieving students, and develop human resources in the field of mini football. Sodik mentioned that the cooperation will also be strengthened through zakat literacy and education programmes within the KSMI network. In the future, Zakat Collection Units (UPZ) will be formed within football organisations under the KSMI network to broaden the reach of zakat collection. He also stated that Baznas is opening opportunities to support children from mustahik families who have talent and meet the criteria to be nurtured into football athletes through the provision of educational aid and scholarships. Meanwhile, KSMI General Chairman Yan Mulia Abidin welcomed the cooperation, calling it a strategic momentum expected to bring about sustainable collaboration and provide benefits to the wider community. According to him, this partnership serves as a bridge to unite two strengths: the potential of sport and the values of goodness. “We are committed to ensuring that every step taken is not only oriented towards current achievements but also builds a solid, transparent, and beneficial long-term partnership pattern for the community,” said Yan Mulia Abidin.
