Baznas Partners with East Java Provincial Government to Strengthen Public Welfare Through Zakat

The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia is strengthening synergy in regional zakat governance with the East Java Provincial Government to promote public welfare and poverty alleviation. This strategic step was discussed during a meeting between Baznas RI and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa at the Grahadi State Building in Surabaya. Saidah Sakwan, Baznas RI’s Head of Organisation, Institutional Affairs, and Regional Development, stated that this collaboration is crucial for optimising the professional and accountable potential of zakat in East Java. “The synergy between Baznas RI and the East Java Provincial Government is expected to further strengthen zakat governance so that its impact is felt more by the community,” she said. Saidah assessed that this strengthened cooperation is targeted to make a real contribution to supporting regional development programmes and sustainable poverty alleviation. She affirmed Baznas’ commitment to aligning its zakat, infak, and sedekah management programmes with the initiatives championed by the East Java Provincial Government. The meeting was attended by Baznas RI’s Supervisor for East Java Province, Syarifuddin, and Head of the Legal and Institutional Bureau, Mulya Dwi Harto. The delegates were received by the Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare of the East Java Regional Secretary, Imam Hidayat, Acting Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources, Jazuli, and Head of the People’s Welfare Bureau of the East Java Regional Secretariat, Agung Subagyo.
