Baznas North Sumatra Collects Over Rp130 Million in Infak from Returning Hajj Pilgrims
The National Alms Agency (Baznas) of North Sumatra Province has collected donations totalling more than Rp130 million from regular Hajj pilgrims. The funds were gathered upon the return of 5,962 pilgrims, who were part of 17 flight groups, at the Medan Hajj Dormitory.
“This donation will be distributed to several mosques and prayer rooms in North Sumatra,” said Baznas North Sumatra Chairman Hatta. The total collection comprised Rp96.42 million in rupiah and 7,344 Saudi riyals.
Hatta explained that the collection drive during the pilgrims’ return aimed to encourage them to increase their charitable contributions. The funds are specifically intended to support the construction of places of worship in Muslim-minority areas of the province, including Karo Regency, Dairi Regency, North Tapanuli Regency, and the Nias Islands.
