Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia, through the Rumah Sehat Baznas (RSB) Pesawaran, provided free healthcare services along with education on the dangers of smoking to students at SMP Negeri 27 Pesawaran in Lampung Province.

The Executive Secretary of Baznas RI, Subhan Cholid, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that the healthcare programme is part of Baznas’s efforts to expand access to free healthcare services while instilling awareness of healthy living from an early age.

“Through Rumah Sehat Baznas, we aim to ensure that students have a good understanding of the importance of maintaining health, including staying away from smoking habits from an early age,” he said.

He explained that the free healthcare services provided included blood pressure checks, blood glucose examinations, as well as health consultations, attended by 97 students from SMP Negeri 27 Pesawaran along with the teaching staff.

He assessed that the school environment is a strategic place to instil values of healthy living.

“With the checks and consultations provided, we hope that the students can better understand their health conditions,” he stated.

Subhan mentioned that a healthy body is the primary foundation for students to learn optimally and achieve excellence.

“The health quality of the younger generation will greatly determine the nation’s future. The more accomplished young generations we have, the more likely our collective efforts to realise Golden Indonesia 2045 will be achieved,” he said.

He assured that Baznas will continue to expand the reach of the Rumah Sehat Baznas programme to various regions so that its benefits can be felt by more people.

“Through this programme, we (Baznas) hope that the benefits of zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS) can be directly felt by the community, not only in the form of economic assistance but also through improvements in health quality and welfare,” he added.

To date, there are 38 Rumah Sehat Baznas facilities spread across various provinces in Indonesia that have been established or are under construction. Two of them are mobile healthcare services in the form of boats in Talaud and Sangihe Regencies, North Sulawesi Province.
