Baznas Health Programme Provides Free Medical Services in Brebes
The National Alms Agency (Baznas) of Brebes Regency, through Rumah Sehat Baznas (RSB), provided free healthcare services for residents at the Brebes Regency Pendopo in Central Java. This activity also commemorated the 51st anniversary of the Central Java Pekerja Sosial Masyarakat (PSM).
The service is part of Baznas’s efforts to expand healthcare access for the community while supporting social activities held in Brebes Regency.
Baznas RI’s Director of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment, Idy Muzayyad, stated that the free healthcare service demonstrates Baznas’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of zakat are felt directly by the community, particularly in meeting basic healthcare needs.
“Through this free healthcare service programme, Baznas affirms its commitment to delivering the benefits of zakat that can be felt directly by the community. We want to ensure that people in need obtain easy and quality access to basic healthcare services,” Idy said in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7).
Idy added that collaboration with various parties will continue to be strengthened so that the reach of Baznas’s healthcare services becomes wider and is able to reach more people in need.
“Health is one of the basic needs of the community. Therefore, Baznas will continue to present inclusive health programmes through Rumah Sehat Baznas as part of the effort to improve the quality of life for mustahik and the community,” he said.
In this activity, 90 beneficiaries received vital sign checks, doctor consultations, simple laboratory examinations, and medication according to the diagnosis results.
Based on the medical team’s examination results, the five most common diseases found included hypertension, diabetes mellitus, gastritis, arthralgia, and upper respiratory tract infections (URTI).
Idy hopes that the healthcare services provided by Baznas can be a collective effort in improving the community’s health status.
“Hopefully, every healthcare service effort we undertake together can provide broad benefits for the welfare of the community and become a good deed for all parties involved,” he said.
By 2026, Baznas has established 38 Rumah Sehat Baznas spread across various provinces in Indonesia, both already operational and still under construction. Two of them operate as floating healthcare services using ships to reach communities in the island regions of Talaud Regency and Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi.
