Baznas explores collaboration options for Palestinian humanitarian aid with YPSP
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia and the Foundation for Friendship and Study of Civilisations (YPSP) are exploring a strategic partnership to strengthen humanitarian aid in Palestine.
The Chairman of Baznas RI, Sodik Mudjahint, welcomed the planned cooperation with YPSP as a new partner to reinforce the distribution of humanitarian assistance to Palestine, particularly in the Gaza region.
“God willing, we will work with the foundation as an additional partner for Baznas in distributing aid to Palestine, specifically for Gaza,” he stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Friday.
Sodik mentioned that the prepared cooperation includes the distribution of food aid, clean water facilities, winter necessities, and the deployment of imams from Palestine to various regions in Indonesia.
He noted that the flow of humanitarian aid to Palestine has recently experienced a decline due to a misconception among some Indonesians that the situation in Gaza has become safe.
Sodik also emphasised that Indonesia’s full support for the Palestinian people’s struggle is based on two main principles: the mandate of the state constitution and religious commands.
“There are two motivations: first, the Indonesian national motivation in accordance with the constitution and Presidential policy; and second, the mandate of the Al-Qur’an and Sunnah from Allah and His Messenger,” said Sodik Mudjahid.
Furthermore, the Chairman of YPSP, Ahed Abul Atha, affirmed his organisation’s readiness, along with field teams operating directly within Gaza settlements, to facilitate the distribution of various humanitarian aids from Baznas RI.
“Alhamdulillah, YPSP is ready to distribute humanitarian aid directly in Gaza, as we have teams working directly within the settlements of Gaza,” said Ahed Abul Atha.
