Baznas DKI provides emergency supplies for Kemayoran fire survivors
The National Zakat Agency (Baznas)/Bazis of Jakarta Province is supplying emergency needs for fire survivors in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, by preparing ready-to-eat meals. “We are present as part of our efforts to help lighten the burden of the affected residents,” said the Chairman of Baznas (Bazis) Jakarta Province, Akhmad H. Abu Bakar, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Since Monday night (1/6), the Jakarta Baznas Disaster Response Team (BTB) has moved swiftly to the location to assist in the evacuation process and conduct assessments of the survivors’ urgent needs. According to Abu Bakar, five volunteers and one field coordinator have been deployed directly to the site, with a disaster response post established in the field to serve as a coordination centre for aid and resident assistance.
Baznas/Bazis Jakarta has distributed humanitarian aid including 1,700 portions of ready-to-eat meals for the first, second, and third days. “We have also distributed 354 basic food packages to all affected households. We are providing water kitchen services to meet clean water needs at the evacuation site and have established an emergency prayer room (Mushola),” said Abu Bakar.
Furthermore, special attention is being given to vulnerable groups among the survivors, which includes 35 elderly individuals, 90 toddlers, and hundreds of school-aged children from the two affected residential areas (RW). “We hope the assistance provided can help meet the basic needs of residents during their displacement. Baznas/Bazis Jakarta will continue to monitor developments on the ground and adjust aid according to the community’s needs,” he added.
