National Zakat Agency (Baznas) Indonesia distributed sacrificial meat packages to underprivileged residents in Pemulung Village, Jurangmangu, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Banten on Thursday, 28 May. Baznas Deputy Chairman Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi stated the agency is committed to ensuring sacrificial animals donated by the public are distributed accurately, accountably, and transparently. ‘Our commitment remains to regulatory compliance, Sharia compliance, and national unity. Sacrificial animals entrusted to Baznas are converted into tangible blessings for communities through thorough coordination with various stakeholders, including local governments,’ he said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. Zainut praised the distribution of sacrificial animals by the President and Vice President of Indonesia through Baznas, viewing it as trust in the agency as the national zakat manager. He noted that kurban in a national context is not merely a ritual act but also part of the social safety net for those in need. ‘When state mechanisms are used to provide nutritious food, alleviate living burdens, and uphold social justice for poor families during this holy occasion, such actions meet both Sharia and constitutional principles,’ he said. He assessed the programme as strategically valuable for supporting village development and poverty eradication. ‘This is the right empowerment model. Empowered villages are not dependent ones,’ said Mulyadin. Mulyadin also hopes collaboration with Baznas can be expanded to reach more remote villages across Indonesia so that the benefits of kurban are distributed more evenly and fairly. Beneficiary Solihin, 45, expressed gratitude for receiving the sacrificial meat. ‘May those who offer kurban be granted health, abundant livelihood, and blessings from Allah SWT. We also pray that Baznas programmes like this continue and help more people like us,’ he said.
