The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has implemented the distribution of sacrificial animals through the ‘Blessed Sacrificial Meat for Village Empowerment’ programme, funded by Alfamart customers’ donations totaling Rp4.57 billion during March and April 2026 for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH (2026 CE).

From the total donations, 989 sheep or goats and 1,750 tins of processed meat were distributed evenly to underprivileged communities across six provinces in Java and Bali, four in Sumatra, and three in Central and Eastern Indonesia, including NTB, South Sulawesi, and Maluku.

This initiative ensures sacrificial meat does not concentrate in major cities but directly reaches needy rural communities.

Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid stated the humanitarian collaboration proves collective community donations can create significant social impact by directly addressing the nutritional needs of poor villagers.

‘We greatly appreciate all Alfamart customers who entrusted Baznas to distribute the sacrificial meat donations responsibly, transparently, and accurately,’ Sodik said in a written statement on Monday (1 June).

He added that the agency successfully distributed sacrificial meat packages in phases to 23,043 beneficiaries, including Islamic boarding schools, mosques, orphanages, and remote village communities.

Furthermore, Sodik explained the programme was implemented by involving local livestock farmers and collaborating with volunteers, community leaders, and social organisations.

‘The programme addresses the community’s need for nutritious food access, particularly for underprivileged families who cannot always enjoy sacrificial meat annually. For many beneficiaries, the aid brings joy as they can share the Eid al-Adha feast with their families,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Alfamart Corporate Affairs Director Solihin noted that the blessed sacrificial meat distribution was entirely funded by Alfamart customers’ donations made via cash registers during March and April 2026.

‘Thank you to all Alfamart customers who contributed their donations or alms, enabling the collected funds to benefit the blessed sacrificial programme distributed via Baznas,’ he said.

Solihin also praised Baznas for directly distributing sacrificial meat packages to beneficiaries, even reaching remote villages, ensuring equitable distribution.

‘All collected Alfamart customer donations are fully managed and distributed through Baznas RI, including this blessed sacrificial programme. We commend Baznas and all volunteers for delivering this act of kindness to those in need,’ he concluded.

Sacrificial activities are not merely an annual religious ritual but also a means to strengthen solidarity and social compassion in the PDAM Depok area.

NU Care-LAZISNU Executive Director Riri Khariroh stated the sacrificial programme was initially focused on reaching communities that have historically struggled to access aid.

A total of 43 cattle and 149 goats, valued at Rp2 billion, were distributed.

This humanitarian action was carried out simultaneously by all regional and branch offices across West Java throughout May 2026.

Through the distribution of sacrificial meat, the company hopes to bring widespread joy to the community.
