Baznas Distributes Sacrificial Cattle to 10 National Media Outlets
In preparation for the observance of Eid al-Adha 1447 H/2026 CE, the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has distributed 10 sacrificial cattle to 10 national media outlets, including Republika. The symbolic handover took place at Baznas’ office on Jalan Matraman Raya, East Jakarta, today.
Vice Chairman of Baznas KH Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi stated that the distribution of the 10 sacrificial cows represents collaboration between the agency and the media. He emphasised that the press plays a crucial role in promoting charitable acts and supporting the Islamic philanthropy ecosystem.
‘In the future, we hope Baznas can continue collaborating with media outlets,’ said the former Indonesian Deputy Minister of Religion on Tuesday, 27 May 2026.
Baznas is implementing the ‘Blessed Sacrifice, Empowering Villages’ programme ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 H/2026 CE. The initiative aims not only to distribute sacrificial animals entrusted by donors (shohibul qurban) from across Indonesia but also to improve the welfare of livestock farmers, particularly those under Baznas’ partnership.
‘With this programme, we have set specific targets. Baznas aims to uplift the welfare of our partnered farmers and ensure equitable prosperity reaches rural areas, while also providing animal protein to those in need,’ explained Kiai Zainut Tauhid.
To date, he added, Baznas has gathered approximately 5,000 goats and sheep for sacrifice. The agency hopes the slaughter and distribution of meat will proceed smoothly, reaching even the most remote parts of Indonesia.
Similarly, the 10 cattle entrusted to media companies will be slaughtered at their respective locations, with the meat distributed to surrounding communities.
‘Alhamdulillah, may this bring blessings to all,’ concluded Kiai Zainut Tauhid.
