Baznas Distributes Qurbani Meat Packages to 2,500 Palestinian Refugees in Egypt
The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI has distributed qurbani meat packages to approximately 2,500 Palestinian refugees located in Cairo, Egypt. The Chairman of Baznas RI, Sodik Mudjahint, stated that this distribution programme is a tangible expression of the Indonesian community’s care in helping to meet the nutritional needs of Palestinian refugees in Egypt.
‘This qurbani meat distribution programme is a manifestation of the Indonesian people’s concern to help meet the nutritional requirements of Palestinian refugees in Egypt,’ Sodik Mudjahid explained in a written statement on Sunday. He added that through this international programme, Baznas is committed to continuously expanding the reach of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and qurbani funds to assist those in need across various parts of the world.
This global humanitarian action is expected to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between Islamic nations. ‘We hope this assistance not only brings blessings to the Palestinian refugees but also serves as a continuous source of reward for the donors in our homeland,’ said Sodik Mudjahid.
The distribution of the qurbani meat packages took place at the Ridwan Hall, As-Salam Mosque, in Nasr City, Cairo, on Monday. The Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt, Kuncoro Giri Waseso, attended the distribution and expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian aid provided by the Indonesian people to Gaza refugees. The Ambassador prayed for the smooth delivery of the livestock and hoped it would bring widespread benefit to those in need.
Asyraf Muhammad, a refugee from Gaza who has been in Egypt since December 2023, expressed deep gratitude for the compassion shown by the Indonesian community through Baznas RI during this Eid al-Adha period. ‘We are immensely grateful to Baznas for its extraordinary efforts in supporting our Palestinian brothers and sisters here in the Arab Republic of Egypt,’ he said.
