The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI has distributed family logistics packages to earthquake survivors on Palue Island, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Empt Tenggara (NTT), to ensure their fundamental needs are met.

Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment at Baznas RI, stated in Jakarta on Sunday that this effort was undertaken to ensure that food aid and daily supplies could reach earthquake survivors on the island, which has a population of approximately 10,000 and is located in a rather isolated area.

“We are committed to overcoming geographical barriers to ensure that this logistical aid truly reaches the hands of the citizens who need it most in the remote parts of Palue,” he said.

Upon arriving on mainland Palue, BTB personnel traversed hilly land routes to distribute basic food packages and essential goods directly to various displacement points.

Idy emphasised that Baznas will continue to distribute food supplies to disaster victims, with a target of 1,000 basic food packages to be distributed gradually to various evacuation sites according to field conditions.

A representative of the survivors, Y. Sawe, expressed appreciation for Baznas’s concern and swift presence to assist the community amidst the post-disaster emergency situation.

“Thank you to our colleagues at Baznas for the assistance we received this afternoon, and we are very proud of your support during this earthquake disaster,” he said.
