The National Amil Zakat Board (Baznas) of the Indonesian Republic has distributed 225 food packages to Palestinians in the Al-Aqsa Mosque area. This assistance forms part of Baznas’s international humanitarian programme to support communities affected by conflict and food access constraints.

The food packages contain essential household necessities tailored to the local population’s needs and consumption habits. The aid was distributed through local partners to ensure proper and targeted delivery.

Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad stated that this assistance represents the trust of the Indonesian people channelled through Baznas for Palestinians. “Alhamdulillah, the trust of the Indonesian people entrusted to Baznas has enabled us to deliver food packages to Palestinians. This demonstrates the concern and solidarity of Indonesia’s Muslim community towards our brothers and sisters there,” he said in an official statement on Sunday (1 March).

He emphasised that the unstable situation amid ongoing conflict has limited food access in several Palestinian areas. This situation makes international humanitarian aid essential, particularly during Ramadan.

According to Achmad, Ramadan provides an opportunity to strengthen Islamic solidarity whilst bringing joy to those facing difficult circumstances. “We hope these food packages can ease the burden on Palestinians and provide hope amid their constraints. We want them to know they are not alone. Baznas, together with the Indonesian people, will continue this humanitarian mission,” he stated.

Achmad also called on Indonesians to strengthen global humanitarian solidarity through zakat, infaq, and sedekah, as this strengthens not only Indonesia but also the world. “Zakat strengthens not only Indonesia but also the global humanitarian mission,” he said.

Baznas continues to distribute aid to Gaza residents, Palestinians conducting fasting worship amid humanitarian crisis. The assistance includes 1,314 iftar meal packages. Saudi KSRelief has also inaugurated a central kitchen in Gaza to provide 24,000 daily meals during Ramadan for refugees in Deir Al-Balah and Al-Qarara. The Indonesian Ulema Council has expressed sorrow over casualties from the Middle East conflict and called for an end to military operations during Ramadan, whilst promoting peaceful diplomacy through the United Nations.
