Baznas Distributes Breaking Fast Meals from Indonesian Community Donations to Gaza Residents
Jakarta - Indonesia’s National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has distributed 1,314 breaking fast meal packages contributed by the Indonesian community to residents of Gaza, Palestine.
Speaking in Jakarta on Friday, Baznas chairman Noor Achmad said the distribution of breaking fast packages represents a key priority for Baznas to ensure Palestinian residents can break their fast with adequate nutritional intake amid difficult conditions.
Noor highlighted that food requirements in Gaza have become critical during this Ramadan period. Consequently, the distribution constitutes a tactical step to ensure food availability for Gaza residents amid restrictions on logistical access during the Ramadan month.
“These aid packages represent a mandate from the Indonesian community that must reach those in need. Baznas remains committed to continuously endeavouring to distribute assistance consistently to ensure Gaza residents’ basic needs are met whilst observing fasting in this difficult situation,” he stated.
Although logistical distribution in Gaza faces challenges due to the unstable situation, Noor affirmed that Baznas continues coordinating with humanitarian partners on the ground to ensure aid reaches recipients quickly and appropriately.
“Ramadan is a month of sharing and caring. We strive to ensure Baznas’s presence in Gaza can alleviate the suffering of those who have lost their homes and livelihoods, so they can still break their fast with dignity,” he said.
Noor therefore called upon the entire Indonesian community to continue supporting those currently facing difficult circumstances.
“Zakat strengthens not only in Indonesia, but also strengthens the world’s humanitarian mission,” Noor Achmad concluded.
