Baznas distributes blankets and bedding for NTT earthquake refugees
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) RI has distributed aid in the form of 550 packages of blankets and bedding for the victims affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
In a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, the Head of Baznas RI for Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment, Idy Muzaylar, stated that the distribution of blankets and bedding targets several evacuation points in Nagekeo Regency, Ende Regency, and Manggarai Regency.
“The distribution of blankets and bedding is a responsive step by Baznas to ensure that refugees receive adequate protection and comfort at the evacuation sites,” he said.
Idy detailed that the hundreds of packages for the earthquake survivors were distributed as follows: 355 packages to various points in Nagekeo Regency, 145 packages to Nioniba Hamlet, Kebirangga Village, Maukaro District, Ende Regency, and 50 packages to Wae Mulu Village, Wae Rii District, Manggarai Regency.
“We urge all levels of society to join hands in providing assistance and offering the best prayers for the safety and fortitude of the earthquake victims in East Nusa Tenggara,” said Idy Muzayyad.
It is noted that Baznas has also distributed 79,450 portions of food through 14 community kitchen points, water kitchen services at eight points, as well as healthcare services for 619 patients across nine locations.
Furthermore, Baznas has established four emergency mosques, one emergency school, five temporary housing units, and one emergency bridge. The organisation has also distributed 1,083 Family Logistics Packages (PLK), 553 hygiene kits, 51 tarpaulin packages, provided psychosocial support for 135 individuals, and provided one unit of internet service and free battery charging stations.
