Baznas distributes 55,150 ready-to-eat meals in Jabodetabek and Sumatra
Jakarta – The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI distributed 55,150 ready-to-eat meal packages for iftar to mustahik in the Jabodetabek and Sumatra regions during Ramadan 1447 AH. Saidah Sakwan, head of Baznas RI for Distribution and Utilisation, said the meal packages were distributed as iftar menus for marginalised workers as well as those in need. ‘We hope the Ramadan Blessed Dishes package will provide benefits and help the mustahik meet their iftar needs,’ she said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. Saidah said the programme is expected to help mustahik meet their needs for meals to break their fast during the holy month. ‘Through this programme Baznas also aims to help meet the nutrition needs of the mustahik while they observe fasting. God willing what we provide will ease the burden of the mustahik,’ she added. In the Jabodetabek area, the food aid is distributed using mobile kitchen trucks. In Sumatra, the meals are distributed through communal kitchens at several disaster-affected sites in North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh. ‘We also wish to thank the muzaki who have entrusted the distribution of zakat, infaq and sadaqah through Baznas. The ZIS you fulfil will be channelled faithfully, transparently and on target to the mustahik,’ said Saidah Sakwan. It is noted that Baznas has rolled out 29 flagship programmes to improve the welfare of the mustahik during Ramadan 1447 AH. These programmes will reach all provinces across Indonesia.
