Jakarta — The National Zakat Board (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia, through its “Ramadan Blessed Meals” programme, has distributed ready-to-eat food aid to communities affected by disasters in Aceh and North Sumatra, totalling 4,050 portions on Wednesday, 11 March.

Baznas Chief Secretary Subhan Cholid stated that the distribution of ready-to-eat food aid focused on critical points that had experienced significant disaster impacts and permanent settlement housing areas (huntap).

Subhan explained that distribution in Aceh Province covered three affected areas: Pidie Jaya Regency, East Aceh, and North Aceh.

Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, Baznas concentrated its distribution at the Baznas permanent settlement housing (huntap) located in Aek Latong Village, Sipirok District, South Tapanuli.

“The total distributed to date has reached 4,050 portions across the two provinces. Distribution at Aek Latong huntap is our priority, as this area accommodates many residents who have lost their homes, making the availability of ready-to-eat meals absolutely crucial,” he said.

Subhan affirmed that Baznas would continue monitoring developments in various disaster-affected areas and remained committed to expanding the reach of the Ramadan Blessed Meals distribution.

He called upon zakat contributors and all members of the public to continue supporting this programme so that more disaster survivors could benefit from it.

“Zakat Strengthening Indonesia is not merely a slogan. Every zakat and donation entrusted to Baznas is capable of providing hope for disaster survivors to remain resilient in fulfilling their spiritual obligations during this blessed month,” said Subhan Cholid.
