Baznas distributes 33,917 food packages from Indonesian citizens to Palestine
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Zakat Board (Baznas) has distributed 33,917 food packages from Indonesian citizens to Palestinians across Gaza, Khan Younis, and Jerusalem.
Baznas Secretary General Subhan Cholid stated that the programme was made possible through the support of zakat, infaq, and sedekah (voluntary alms) contributions from Indonesian communities channelled through Baznas.
“The distribution of these food packages demonstrates the compassion of the Indonesian people reaching the heart of Palestine. We want to ensure that our brothers and sisters in Palestine do not feel alone in facing these difficult times,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
Subhan explained that each package contains nutritious food items designed to meet the daily nutritional needs of residents affected by unstable security and economic conditions.
He assured that Baznas will continue to strengthen its network of local partners to ensure that humanitarian assistance from Indonesia flows consistently and reaches the right beneficiaries in Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza and Jerusalem.
Through this initiative, Subhan stated that Baznas hopes to ease the economic burden of Palestinians in Jerusalem, which continues to intensify.
This step also forms part of Baznas’s ongoing effort to support the struggle and survival of Palestinians through measured humanitarian programmes.
“Every package we distribute is not merely food assistance, but a message of solidarity and love from the Indonesian people for the resilience of Palestinians. We are committed to ensuring this assistance continues to flow to support food security for families there,” said Subhan Cholid.
