Baznas Distributes 33,917 Food Packages for Palestinian Residents
The National Amil Zakat Board (Baznas) of Indonesia has distributed humanitarian assistance comprising 33,917 food packages to Palestinian residents spread across Gaza, Khan Younis, and Jerusalem. This distribution forms part of Baznas’s emergency food programme designed to assist residents experiencing difficulties in accessing logistics in these regions.
Each package contains nutritious food items specifically formulated to meet the daily nutritional requirements of residents affected by uncertain security and economic conditions.
Subhan Cholid, Principal Secretary of Baznas RI, stated that the programme was made possible through support from zakat, infak, and sadaqah funds from Indonesian communities channelled through Baznas. Despite facing various access limitations on the ground, the Baznas team ensured that assistance reached the correct targets amongst those most in need, including elderly people and children.
“This food package distribution represents the concern of the Indonesian people in the heart of Palestine. We want to ensure that our brethren in Palestine do not feel alone in facing these difficult times,” he said, according to an official statement on Saturday (14 March).
According to Cholid, distributing food packages across various Palestinian regions required extremely detailed coordination given the sensitivity of the areas involved.
Baznas RI, Cholid stated, continues to strengthen its network of local partners so that humanitarian assistance from Indonesia can enter consistently and reach the correct targets in Palestinian regions, particularly in Gaza and Jerusalem.
“Each package we distribute is not merely food assistance, but a message of solidarity and love from the Indonesian people for the resilience of Palestinians. We are committed to ensuring that this assistance continues to flow to safeguard food security for families there,” he emphasised.
Through this action, Baznas hopes to alleviate the economic burden faced by Palestinians in Jerusalem, which continues to tighten. This step also forms part of Baznas’s ongoing efforts in supporting the struggle and sustainability of Palestinian residents through measured humanitarian programmes.
