Baznas Distributes 3,774 Eid Garments for Palestinian Children
The National Board of Zakat (Baznas) has distributed humanitarian assistance comprising new clothing to 3,774 Palestinian children in Gaza and Jerusalem. The programme, titled Eid Garments for Palestinian Children, was initiated to bring festive joy during Eid celebrations amidst the ongoing conflict in the region.
Distribution was carried out directly through local partners to ensure the new clothing reached the children most in need, so they could experience happiness on the holiday.
Imdadun Rahmat, Baznas Deputy II for Distribution and Empowerment, described the programme as more than material aid, but rather a message of solidarity. The Eid garments sent for the children symbolise affection to bring smiles to their faces.
“We want to ensure that children in Gaza do not feel alone. These Eid garments are a symbol of affection from the Indonesian people to bring smiles to their faces in the midst of a difficult situation,” explained Imdadun in an official statement on Monday (16 March).
According to him, the selection of Gaza City and Jerusalem as distribution locations was based on the urgent conditions in these areas, which still have minimal access to aid. “Each piece of clothing given is expected to bring warmth and new spirit to the beneficiaries as they welcome the day of victory,” he said.
The distribution of new clothing also serves as proof of Baznas’s transparency and accountability in managing zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (ZIS) funds entrusted by the Indonesian community. The success of this distribution is inseparable from the support of various parties who continue to channel assistance through official Baznas channels.
“This is the time for us to strengthen solidarity by sharing happiness through Baznas’s official channels, which are guaranteed to be trustworthy and well-targeted reaching the heart of Gaza. Every donation that you give is not merely material aid, but real hope for the independence and recovery of Palestinian lives,” he said.
Upon receiving new clothing, wide smiles appeared on the faces of the child beneficiaries who enthusiastically tried on the Eid garments from the Indonesian people. With simple yet sincere language, they expressed deep gratitude to Baznas and all donors in Indonesia who have given them attention during this difficult time.
During Ramadan 1447 H, Baznas also implemented other humanitarian assistance programmes for Palestine, including food packages, healthcare services, clean water provision, residential and residential tents, blankets, mosque tents, and class tents for children in conflict-affected areas.
