Baznas distributed 3,388 qurbani meat packages, equivalent to 242 goats, worth Rp750 million from PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (Mitratel) to communities in need within Mitratel’s operational areas, including flood victims in Sumatra. Seventy per cent of the distribution is focused on Mitratel’s operational areas, with 30 per cent allocated to communities still recovering from floods in Sumatra.

Baznas Chairman Sodik Mudjahid praised Mitratel’s trust in Baznas Indonesia for distributing sacrificial meat to those in need. “Mitratel has collaborated with Baznas on several strategic programmes, including this year’s qurbani. We hope this partnership continues to bring wider benefits to the community,” said Sodik in a written statement on Wednesday (27 May).

He stressed that Baznas Indonesia ensures all distribution processes are targeted, transparent, and reach those truly in need, particularly vulnerable groups and disaster-affected communities. “Indonesian meat consumption remains relatively low. This aid is expected to help meet food needs and bring joy during Eid al-Adha,” he added.

He further noted that Baznas Indonesia continues to seek collaboration with various parties, including the private sector, to expand the benefits of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and qurbani for communities across regions.

Meanwhile, Mitratel CEO Theodorus Ardi Hartoko said Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of the importance of sharing and social compassion within the community. “This qurbani programme is not just an annual activity but part of Mitratel’s commitment to continue supporting communities. We want the spirit of sharing, compassion, and unity central to Eid al-Adha to be felt tangibly, especially by those around Mitratel’s operational areas and our fellow citizens facing disasters,” said Theodorus.

He added that Mitratel believes companies must create sustainable social impact and strengthen community relations. “We hope the aid brings happiness and blessings to recipients. Moving forward, Mitratel will continue promoting inclusive and impactful social programmes, in line with the company’s commitment to sustainable and responsible business,” he added.

The Mitratel Berbagi programme also involves employee participation to foster a culture of care and mutual assistance within the company. Through this initiative, Mitratel aims to continue nurturing a spirit of sharing and strengthening ties with communities across its operational areas.
