Baznas Distributes 2,400 Lebaran Outfits to Gaza Residents
Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas) has again distributed humanitarian aid to Palestinians affected by the conflict. This time the aid is in the form of clothing, totaling 2,400 packages. The distribution of the new clothes is focused on refugees at two critical locations, Al Zahraa Camp and Palestine Camp in central Gaza City.
Saidah Sakwan, head of Baznas for Distribution and Utilisation, explained that thousands of garments are the culmination of support from various elements of Indonesian society, including collaborations with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), MIRA, LAZ Muhajir, and Baznas’ other strategic partners.
‘We continue to strive to ensure aid from the muzaki reaches those most in need. The clothing distribution at Al Zahraa and Palestine Camp is a concrete step to provide comfort and preserve the dignity of our brothers and sisters in Gaza who have lost their possessions,’ Saidah Sakwan said in a written statement on Wednesday, 4 March.
This distribution targets beneficiaries in the Gaza refugee camps, with priority given to vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children. By partnering with local partners, Baznas ensures the distribution process remains calm and targeted despite the difficult circumstances.
Saidah emphasised that Baznas’s commitment to Palestine will not stop at clothing aid. She invited all segments of the nation to continue offering prayers and the best donations to help restore humanitarian conditions on the land of the prophets.
‘This aid is not just the figure 2,400 clothing packages; it is a message of solidarity that Palestine is not alone. Baznas will continue to guard the mandate of the Indonesian people in ongoing humanitarian programmes, including food, clothing, and health services in the future,’ she concluded.
Baznas has also previously provided 1,314 iftar meal packages to Gaza residents during Ramadan.
