Baznas Distributes 100,000 Litres of Clean Water to Gaza Residents

National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI has distributed 100,000 litres of clean water in the Al Jalaa region, Gaza, Palestine. The programme aims to meet the clean water needs of 2,500 Palestinians affected by the water crisis. Baznas RI Chairman Noor Achmad expressed gratitude for delivering clean water to meet the basic needs of Palestinians in urgent need, stating that it demonstrates the Indonesian people’s growing care for Palestinians. ‘Alhamdulillah the clean water distribution has been carried out; this is a vital need that cannot be delayed, especially in the emergency conditions caused by the protracted conflict and during Ramadan,’ he said in a written statement on Wednesday (4/3). Noor Achmad explained that each distribution brings emotional scenes as children, youths, and the elderly queue with jerrycans, used bottles, buckets, or anything they can use to carry and bring clean water to their homes. ‘They are willing to queue in front of water tanker trucks to obtain drinking water that is fit for consumption,’ he added. He emphasised that Baznas RI will continue to commit to delivering clean water supplies to help them address the water crisis in Palestine. The water distribution programme is also part of Baznas’ efforts to improve the welfare of the Palestinian people and strengthen solidarity among Indonesians. ‘We hope what has been distributed will benefit the Palestinian people and help them overcome their difficulties,’ he said. The Palestinian people have repeatedly expressed thanks to Indonesia for the clean water. Noor Achmad stressed that Baznas RI will continue to monitor the situation in Gaza, focusing primarily on ensuring fundamental needs such as food, water, and healthcare remain accessible to residents.
