Baznas Distributes 10,000 Litres of Clean Water to Earthquake Survivors in Central Sulawesi
The National Alms Agency (Baznas) has distributed 10,000 litres of clean water to communities affected by the earthquake in Kamarora B Village, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment at Baznas, stated that the aid delivery is part of the agency’s rapid response to assist earthquake-affected communities, particularly to ensure the basic needs of survivors are met. “When a disaster strikes, access to clean water is often cut off, even though water is the most basic necessity for maintaining health and ensuring survivors can endure, especially during the emergency response period,” he said. Idy emphasised that Baznas is moving swiftly to distribute the aid needed by the community, including food supplies, health services, and clean water provision, so that survivors can navigate the emergency phase more safely and decently. “All assistance provided, including this clean water aid, comes from zakat, infak, and sedekah donations collected by Baznas from muzaki. We ensure this trust is properly distributed to the communities in need,” he said. Idy expressed hope that the clean water aid would ease the burden on earthquake-affected communities while maintaining the health of survivors during the recovery process. “We will also continue to coordinate with various parties to ensure aid distribution runs effectively and reaches those in need in the affected areas,” he added. Idy affirmed that the agency will always be present alongside the community in any emergency situation, while strengthening humanitarian efforts through targeted and sustainable aid distribution. Previously, Baznas distributed a range of humanitarian aid for the Central Sulawesi disaster, including public kitchen services, health services, clean water distribution, logistics distribution, water kitchens, construction of emergency mosques, and psychosocial support services.
