Baznas deploys medical teams and various aid for Palu earthquake survivors

The National Alms Agency (Baznas) RI is distributing a range of humanitarian services to accelerate the recovery of earthquake survivors in Palu, Central Sulawesi, and surrounding areas following the disaster on 16 June 2026, including the deployment of medical teams and various aid. “We at Baznas RI moved quickly to send food and medical assistance so that the basic needs of earthquake survivors in Central Sulawesi are immediately met,” said Idy Muzayyad, Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment at Baznas RI, in Jakarta on Monday. To date, Baznas has distributed 5,000 litres of clean water and 3,000 packs of ready-to-eat meals, with quantities continuing to increase, along with health services for residents and psychosocial support for children in Kamarora Village. For health services, Baznas has deployed 17 personnel from its disaster response team and eight medical workers to the affected areas. According to Idy, medical services for affected residents continue intensively, covering the treatment of 213 patients in Torue Village and 207 patients in Kamarora Village. He said Baznas is committed to distributing logistical aid and health services until the social and economic conditions of the affected communities return to stability. “Our team is not only focused on meeting the daily logistics of evacuees but also ensuring that physical health and psychological trauma recovery for children proceed hand in hand in the field,” said Idy. He urged the public to channel alms through the Baznas Disaster and Humanitarian Wallet to help meet basic needs, health services, and community recovery.
