Baznas Deploys Medical Teams and Aid in Swift Response to Palu Earthquake

The National Alms Agency (Baznas) RI has distributed a range of humanitarian services to accelerate the recovery of residents affected by the earthquake disaster in the Palu area and its surroundings, which occurred on 16 June 2026. To date, Baznas assistance has included the distribution of 5,000 litres of clean water, 3,000 packs of ready-to-eat meals with quantities set to increase, health services for residents, and psychosocial support for 100 children in Kamarora A Village. Idy Muzayyad, Baznas Head of Distribution, Utilisation, and Empowerment, stated that the agency responded swiftly to the disaster by deploying 17 Baznas disaster response team personnel and 8 medical workers to the affected area. “We from Baznas RI moved quickly to send food and medical aid so that the basic needs of earthquake survivors in Central Sulawesi are immediately met,” Idy Muzayyad explained in a written statement on Tuesday (23/6). He noted that medical services for affected residents continue intensively, covering the treatment of 213 patients in Torue Village and 207 patients in Kamarora Village. According to him, Baznas is committed to distributing logistical aid and health services until the social and economic conditions of the community in the affected area return to stability. “Our team does not only focus on fulfilling the daily logistics of refugees, but also ensures that physical health aspects and psychological trauma recovery for children proceed hand in hand in the field,” said Idy Muzayyad.
