Baznas declares commitment to Palestinian aid distribution through MoU
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Zakat Board (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Palestinian Presidential Aid Committee as an effort to strengthen the distribution of humanitarian support for the Palestinian people on Friday (2/27).
“Following this MoU, God willing, we will immediately follow up with aid programmes, but more importantly, we will maximise and massively expose information regarding the current situation in Palestine,” said the Chairman of Baznas RI, Sodik Mudjahid, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
He noted that the signing of this memorandum of understanding also serves as an important momentum to update information and provide a clearer picture of the current conditions faced by the Palestinian people on the ground.
The agreement, according to Sodik, also includes a commitment to information exchange, monitoring, evaluation, and periodic reporting to ensure that all aid programmes are conducted accountably.
“We will continue our commitment to helping the Palestinian people, as this is a mandate from the people and a mandate from the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Palestinian Presidential Aid Committee, Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habbash, stated that the MoU between the Palestinian Presidential Aid Committee and Baznas RI serves as an important foundation to ensure that aid from Indonesia is distributed quickly and accountably amidst the humanitarian crisis still affecting Palestine.
This cooperation is expected to promptly meet the urgent needs of the affected communities on the ground, particularly the availability of food logistics and medical supplies.
“We are committed to ensuring that this aid reaches the rightful recipients in a transparent, clear, and rapid manner. Therefore, today we are signing an MoU with the National Zakat Board (Baznas) in Indonesia,” said Mahmoud.
