Baznas collaborates with DPR's Commission VIII to strengthen social services synergy in North Sumatra
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Zakat Collection Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia is collaborating with the House of Representatives’ Commission VIII to strengthen the synergy of social services in North Sumatra (Sumut). Idy Muzayyad, Head of Baznas RI’s Distribution and Empowerment Division, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that strengthening social services is one of the efforts to enhance cross-sector collaboration in zakat management. He assessed that synergy with the DPR RI and local governments is crucial to expanding the reach of programmes. “Through this synergy, we aim to ensure that every Baznas programme truly addresses the needs of communities in the regions and delivers real impacts to those in need,” Idy said. Idy also noted that the synergy with Commission VIII of the DPR RI and the Provincial Government is expected to strengthen policy support and oversight of social programme implementation in the regions. Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR RI Anshory Siregar conveyed that this collaboration is hoped to provide optimal contributions to regional development as an effort to improve community welfare. “We hope this working visit becomes a highly strategic space for dialogue to align perceptions, harmonise policies, and ensure that the programmes implemented are truly on target and deliver real impacts to the community,” Anshory Siregar continued. On that occasion, Baznas also distributed aid through the Kita Jaga Usaha (KJU) Programme, which is currently being implemented in three provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, as an effort to strengthen the economy of small business actors, particularly mustahik affected by disasters.
