Baznas Champions 'Qurban Berkah, Berdayakan Desa', Targets 20 Percent Increase in Sacrificial Animals
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – In preparation for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriyah/2026, the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) is finalising comprehensive preparations from upstream to downstream. Deputy Chairman of the Central Baznas, Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, affirmed the agency’s readiness to ensure optimal, transparent, and targeted sacrificial services. “Our preparations are conducted comprehensively from upstream to downstream. Baznas has coordinated with its provincial, regency/city networks, as well as Zakat Amil Institutions (LAZ) across Indonesia to ensure the standardisation of sacrificial services,” Zainut stated when contacted by Republika.co.id on Tuesday (28/4/2026). On the supply side, Baznas ensures the availability of healthy sacrificial animals compliant with Islamic law through the Baznas Livestock Centre programme. This programme involves assisted farmers from among the mustahik, thereby not only guaranteeing animal quality but also empowering the economy of small communities. Additionally, Baznas is strengthening the digitalisation of services via the Kurban Online platform. This innovation allows the public to perform the sacrificial worship from anywhere, while ensuring rapid and accountable reporting transparency. In terms of logistics, Baznas has prepared hygienic sacrificial animal slaughter points. Meat distribution is designed to reach remote areas, particularly the outermost, outermost, and underdeveloped regions (3T), so that the benefits of sacrifice can be felt evenly. This year, Baznas is championing the major theme “Qurban Berkah, Berdayakan Desa”. This theme underscores that sacrifice is not merely understood as a ritual worship, but also as an instrument for economic empowerment.
