Baznas Board Members for 2026–2031 Appointed, Including Senior Gerindra Politician and Former Deputy Religious Affairs Minister
Religious Affairs Minister Prof KH Nasaruddin Umar presented the Presidential Decree (SK) to the leadership of the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) for the 2026–2031 period. The decree represents President Prabowo Subianto’s decision regarding the appointment of the new Baznas board members.
“Praise be to God, today we are able to present the SK to the new Baznas management. After waiting for so long for the Presidential SK regarding Baznas management,” said Nasaruddin at the Operation Room of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
He expressed hope that the new Baznas management would be able to increase zakat fund collection significantly. Currently, he stated, Baznas is able to collect approximately Rp41 trillion annually.
“The new Baznas management should be able and do its best to increase zakat collection threefold. Currently, Baznas is able to collect approximately Rp41 trillion,” Nasaruddin said.
The Grand Imam of Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque also reminded Baznas management to adhere to Islamic law principles in zakat distribution. He emphasised that zakat has clear regulations regarding its recipients, namely eight categories or asnaf (eligible groups).
According to Nasaruddin, Baznas management is also expected not to focus solely on zakat management, but to also develop various other philanthropic potentials of the community. “Baznas management colleagues, it is hoped that you will not only manage zakat matters, but also other charitable funds. I entrust this to all of you,” Nasaruddin said.
