Baznas' 'Blessed Sacrifice Empowers Villages' Programme Delivers Social and Economic Impact

The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has launched the ‘Blessed Sacrifice Empowers Villages’ programme at the Kuningan Livestock Centre in West Java, aiming to strengthen community empowerment through productive and sustainable sacrificial animal management.

Regent of Kuningan, Dian Rachmat Yanuar, stated the initiative is not merely a spiritual ritual but has tangible social and economic impacts for the community. He emphasised that Eid al-Adha should embody Islamic values of unity, empathy, care, and mutual assistance.

Dian highlighted that the programme serves as a tool for economic capacity-building, contributing to improved welfare. “This is not just a ritual; it’s about empowering communities through economic development, which will inevitably enhance their well-being,” he said.

He expressed confidence that Baznas’ professional management of sacrifices would bring wider benefits and boost Kuningan’s prosperity. “This programme has social and economic impact; I am confident Baznas’ professional handling will make Kuningan more prosperous,” he added.

Dian praised Baznas for selecting Kuningan as a flagship programme location under its Livestock Centre initiative, hoping it would address issues like poverty and unemployment. He also commended Baznas’ professional management of public funds, including zakat, infak, sadaqah, and sacrificial donations, urging civil servants to channel their contributions through the agency.

The ‘Blessed Sacrifice Empowers Villages’ programme is being implemented nationwide, with sacrificial animal slaughtering taking place at 103 Baznas livestock centres across 15 provinces.
