Baznas Bazis DKI Distributes Rp3.44 Billion to Orphans in Muharram Programme
The Jakarta Provincial Government, together with Baznas Bazis DKI Jakarta, has reinforced its commitment to improving the welfare of orphans through the Muharram 1448 H Santunan Programme. This year, 3,440 orphans across the DKI Jakarta region received assistance, with a total disbursement reaching Rp3.44 billion.
The programme, titled ‘Muharram Santunan and Shopping with Orphans: Honouring Orphans with the Governor of DKI Jakarta’, was held at Gajah Mada Plaza, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (9/7/2026), and was attended by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, along with provincial officials. In addition to the simultaneous distribution of aid across the five administrative cities and the Kepulauan Seribu Regency, the main event brought together 150 orphans aged 7 to 12 for a shared shopping experience, aiming to provide a joyful outing while meeting their needs.
Each child received an aid package worth Rp1 million, consisting of a nutritional package valued at Rp500,000, a Hypermart shopping voucher worth Rp250,000, Rp250,000 in cash, and school supplies including a bag and stationery. The distribution covered 1,200 children in South Jakarta (total Rp1.2 billion), 600 in East Jakarta (Rp600 million), 550 in North Jakarta (Rp550 million), 450 in West Jakarta (Rp450 million), 400 in Central Jakarta (Rp400 million), and 240 in the Kepulauan Seribu (Rp240 million).
In his remarks, Governor Pramono Anung commended Baznas Bazis DKI Jakarta for its consistent delivery of social programmes that directly benefit the community. He noted that while the theme of the activity was simple, its impact was substantial and directly felt by the orphans, and he expressed his intention to continue such initiatives annually. The Governor described Baznas Bazis DKI Jakarta as a strategic partner for the provincial government in supporting various social programmes, including a certificate amnesty scheme for students from underprivileged families. He revealed that in 2025, this programme assisted 6,050 students with total aid of Rp14.9 billion, and the target for 2026 is to help 6,000 students overcome administrative barriers to education.
He further assessed that Baznas Bazis DKI Jakarta’s collaboration in programmes such as Tebus Ijazah and Bedah Rumah Dhuafa demonstrates the institution’s vital role in addressing various community needs. Akhmad H Abubakar, Chairman of Baznas Bazis DKI Jakarta, stated that the event at Gajah Mada Plaza symbolised the simultaneous distribution of aid throughout Jakarta. He remarked that each filled shopping basket represented not just goods, but a symbol of hope, independence, and proof of compassion for the orphans of DKI Jakarta. He added that the success of the institution’s social programmes is also supported by accountable governance, reflected in the 2025 Financial Report which received an unqualified opinion (WTP) from an independent auditor. Akhmad noted that this achievement demonstrates that the management of zakat, infak, and sedekah funds is conducted professionally and transparently, thereby maintaining the trust of donors. Through the Muharram momentum, Baznas Bazis DKI Jakarta hopes to further strengthen collaboration with the provincial government and donors so that more people can benefit from empowerment and social protection programmes in the future.
