Jakarta – The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of the Republic of Indonesia (Baznas RI) has synergised with the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) to deliver a free mudik programme for the public using Indonesian Warship (KRI) ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH. ‘Baznas is very pleased to be able to re-establish cooperation with the TNI-AL in serving the people. We will promptly follow up with logistical support plans for mudik travellers as well as Eid packages for TNI-AL personnel involved in this programme. We will also offer this opportunity to muzaki so that the benefits reach more widely,’ said Noor Achmad, Chairman of Baznas RI, in a statement from Jakarta on Thursday. Noor added that provisions for sahur and iftar meals, as well as operational needs during sea travel, would be priority so that mudik travellers can perform their religious observances at the end of Ramadan with peace of mind. He stated that Baznas is committed to continuing to support programmes that have a direct positive social impact for those in need. In response, the Operational Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL), Rear Admiral (two-star) TNI Yayan Sopiyan, outlined plans to deploy KRI ships to help alleviate congestion among travellers, particularly those using two-wheeled vehicles. Yayan noted that the programme is scheduled to begin departures on the first day of the Lebaran leave, namely 16 March 2026. He explained that the programme is specifically targeted at two-wheeler mudik travellers so that they can return home safely and comfortably with their families by simply showing their STNK or official identification.
