Baznas and MUI Award Rp90 Million to 9 Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 Activists
The National Zakat Agency (Baznas), through the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), has awarded Rp90 million to nine humanitarian activists from Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 who were kidnapped by Israeli forces. Baznas Chairman Idy Muzayyad stated that each activist received Rp10 million, totalling Rp90 million. ‘Please do not focus on the amount, but rather see it as a gesture of care and a reminder to the public that anyone fighting for Palestine’s independence deserves our support,’ Idy told Republika during a gathering and thanksgiving event at the MUI Central Office on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. Idy added that support can take various forms, including prayers and other means. All segments of Indonesian society must strengthen and assist one another, particularly in the context of supporting Palestine’s independence. He further stated that the appreciation from Baznas via MUI underscores the need for all parties to bolster each other in supporting Palestine’s independence, noting that efforts to aid Palestine must be multifaceted.
