Baznas and DPR RI Establish Zakat Collection Unit to Boost Islamic Philanthropy
The National Alms Agency (Baznas) and the House of Representatives (DPR RI) have agreed to establish a Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) within the council’s apparatus. Additionally, the agency supports the revitalisation of Masjid Amal Pancasila, backed by the presence of the UPZ as a strategic facility to assist employees in making donations and strengthening ZIS fund collection. “If the mosque is active, we (Baznas) will certainly also support efforts to enliven it and foster its economic ecosystem through strategic Baznas programmes, such as Baznas Microfinance Masjid and ZCorner,” he said.
Currently, Masjid Amal Pancasila is temporarily closed due to several severe damages. The condition has forced the suspension of mosque operations to maintain the comfort and safety of worshippers. He explained that the new management is currently undertaking a comprehensive restructuring. The initial phase of improvements is focused on physical asset repairs, including the building structure and mosque facilities. “In fact, community enthusiasm is very high, with various activities always filling the mosque to capacity during Friday prayers,” he remarked.

According to him, the presence of the UPZ will strengthen the culture of zakat among employees while supporting the optimisation of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah fund collection for the benefit of the community.
