The Coordinator of the Division for Handling Violations, Data, and Information of the Indonesian Bawaslu, Puadi, stated that the ideas presented by students in the 2026 Election Law Enforcement Debate Competition VI could serve as vital input to strengthen Bawaslu’s authority and institution.

“These ideas serve as an addition, increasing our strength and our institution to reinforce our authority within Bawaslu,” Puadi said in Jakarta on Friday.

Puadi noted that the various fresh ideas and concepts presented by participants during the debate competition exceeded Bawaslu’s expectations. He remarked that the students did not merely present opinions, but also tested theories and linked them to actual election law issues occurring in the field.

“The input they provided was, in fact, beyond our expectations,” he added.

Puadi cited an example of a participant’s proposal regarding the application of justice in election crimes, which examined aspects of legal certainty and justice in relation to the issue of money politics. According to him, such ideas demonstrate the courage of students to test theories while analysing various election law problems.

Puadi stated that the Election Law Enforcement Debate Competition is designed not only as a competition but also as an academic space for students to present their ideas. Through this forum, students are encouraged not only to study election science from textbooks and lectures but also to bravely test theories, identify legal issues, and offer solutions.

He expressed hope that the ideas and experiences gained by the participants could be disseminated through socialisation and the improvement of election literacy within the academic community across Indonesia.

“We hope that there are motions which, if we encounter uncertainty or difficulties while performing our duties, can be socialised to increase literacy and knowledge among the academic community throughout Indonesia,” said Puadi.
