Bawaslu Proposes Additional Budget of Rp 772.7 Billion for 2027
The Indonesian Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) has submitted a proposal for an additional budget of Rp 772.74 billion for the 2027 fiscal year. This budget is intended to fund a variety of activities.
This was stated by Bawaslu Secretary-General Ferdinand Eskol Tiar Sirait during a working meeting with Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the DPR/MPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (31/8/2026). Ferdinand noted that Bawaslu’s current budget ceiling for 2027 stands at Rp 3.74 trillion.
“The total budget ceiling for Bawaslu is Rp 3,749,107,602,000, which is divided into two parts. The first is for the Management Support Programme, commonly referred to as operational costs, amounting to Rp 2,570,447,602,000. The second is the Election Organising Programme, which is designated as a National Priority, amounting to Rp 1,178,660,000,000,” he said.
Of this total ceiling, employee operational expenditure is allocated at Rp 1.72 trillion. This budget is used, among other things, for the honoraria of the chairpersons and members of Bawaslu at the national, provincial, and regency/city levels.
Furthermore, the budget covers salaries and allowances for civil servants (PNS) and contract workers (PPPK), meal allowances, overtime, performance allowances, as well as religious holiday allowances (THR) and the 13th-month salary.
Meanwhile, goods operational expenditure is allocated at Rp 849.22 billion. This budget is used for various purposes, including honoraria for experts, domestic staff, security, cleaning services, maintenance of offices and official vehicles, office supplies, electricity, telephone, water, and rent.
He explained that for the election organising programme, Bawaslu has allocated Rp 1.17 trillion for several stages of the 2029 General Election that will take place in 2027.
The largest allocation is for the supervision of ad hoc institutions, amounting to Rp 402.56 billion. Additionally, Rp 428.21 billion is allocated for programme planning, budgeting, and the drafting of election supervision regulations.
Furthermore, Rp 124.4 billion is allocated for the supervision of the registration and verification of election participants, followed by Rp 108.04 billion for voter data supervision, Rp 77.96 billion for the supervision of seat and electoral district determination, and Rp 37.45 billion for the supervision of nominations for the Presidency, DPR, DPD, and DPRD.
“The total National Priority Expenditure for Election Stages is Rp 1,178,660,000,000,” he stated.
Ferdinand added that Bawaslu is also requesting an additional budget of Rp 772.74 billion. According to him, the formal request for this additional budget has been submitted to the Ministry of State Secretariat.
“Regarding Bawaslu’s proposal for additional funding, we are requesting Rp 772.74 billion. The letter has currently been delivered to the Ministry of State Secretariat and is awaiting further approval,” he concluded.
