Bavaria, RI to tie up on solar generator
JAKARTA (JP): The Bavarian State of Germany and Indonesia will sign an agreement on the development of solar electricity generation on Nov. 27 in Bonn, visiting Bavarian Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport and Technology Otto Wiesheu said.
Wiesheu told reporters on the last day of his three-day visit in Indonesia yesterday that he had held a discussion with State Minister of Research and Technology B.J Habibie about cooperating in solar electricity generation.
"Bavaria has some companies in the field of solar research but our market is small because of our lack of sunshine," he said.
He said that the two parties plan to discuss financial support for the procurement of equipment.
He said that Indonesia may import solar collector equipment from Germany.
Wiesheu said that he had also discussed with Habibie the possibility to cooperate in the production of 100-seat N-250 aircraft with the state-owned aircraft manufacturer PT Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara.
On the second day of his visit, Wiesheu met with Minister of Transportation Haryanto Dhanutirto to discuss the possibility of Germany providing financial assistance for the development of airports and harbors in Indonesia.
Wisheu also witnessed the signing of an agreement worth 45 million Deutsche marks (US$32.25 million) between three Bavarian companies and an Indonesian ceramics company.
He said the 30 members of the Bavarian delegation, including business executives from insurance, automotive, construction, telecommunication and engineering sectors, are looking for cooperation possibilities with Indonesian partners.(04)
