The Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung) has named Sudianto (SDT) alias Aseng, as the beneficial owner of PT Quality Sukses Sejahtera (QSS), as a suspect in a corruption case over the governance of Mining Business Permits (IUP) in West Kalimantan spanning 2017–2025. “We have named one suspect, just one so far, in the name of SDT; he is the beneficial owner of PT QSS,” said Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigations of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, at a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office on Thursday (21 May) night. Syarief explained that PT QSS is suspected of carrying out mining activities at locations that do not align with the IUP. PT QSS is a mining company in West Kalimantan focusing on the bauxite commodity. “So basically PT QSS obtained an IUP, but the person involved did not mine at the location granted; instead they mined elsewhere and exported the ore using PT QSS documents in cooperation with state officials,” he said. “This was carried out from 2017 to 2025,” he added. In addition to Aseng, investigators arrested several others from Pontianak and Jakarta related to the case. Syarief said they are still being examined. “We are still conducting examinations up to now and searches are also ongoing at several places in West Kalimantan and in Jakarta,” he said. Syarief noted that they have detained Aseng at Salemba Detention House, a branch of the Jakarta Selatan District Attorney’s Office, for 20 days ahead.
