Batujajar Residents Perform Istisqa Prayer, Raising Collective Prayers for Rain

Muslim worshippers performed the Istisqa prayer at the Graha Kencana housing field, East Batujajar Village, Batujajar District, West Bandung Regency, on Friday (11/09/2026). Through this prayer, they sought blessings and the arrival of rain amidst the ongoing long dry season.

The Istisqa prayer was attended by around 600 people, including members of the Batujajar Sub-district Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimcam) and the local community. The Sub-district Head of Batujajar, Andi M. Hikmat, stated that the prayer serves as both an effort and a collective plea during weather conditions that necessitate rainfall.

“Alhamdulillah, through the initiative of Forkopimcam, we performed the Istisqa prayer this morning. Around 600 people participated. We are praying together to Allah SWT so that we may be granted rain full of blessings,” Andi said when confirmed.

Andi noted that the Batujajar region has been heavily impacted by the prolonged drought, which coincides with this year’s El Niño phenomenon. Several areas have reported difficulties in accessing clean water as their usual sources have dried up.

“The areas feeling the most significant shortage of clean water, according to reports, are Giriasih Village, Cangkoray Village, and most recently, East Batujajar,” said Andi.

The local government has been working to address the residents’ difficulties by supplying clean water assistance. This includes efforts through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), which have been distributing clean water via water tankers.

“We have distributed clean water assistance several times, including through the TNI. This is our joint effort to overcome the residents’ difficulties regarding clean water access,” he added.
