Battersea: A Former Industrial Icon Transformed into a Mixed-Use Complex
London (ANTARA) – Located on the south bank of the River Thames in London, Battersea Power Station was built in two main phases between 1929 and 1955.
At its peak, the coal-fired power station supplied around a fifth of London’s electricity, including power to important buildings such as Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament.
The building, famed for its four white chimneys, stood abandoned for decades after electricity generation ceased in 1983.
Following restoration and redevelopment, the former industrial icon reopened to the public in 2022 as a mixed-use complex featuring shops, restaurants, offices, homes and leisure facilities.
