JAKARTA (JP): Batman fans can now have a close look at the
original Batmobile from the film Batman Forever, which is
currently being screened in Indonesia.

PT Matahari Putra Prima, the license holder for Batman
products in Indonesia, shipped the Batmobile from Australia for
display at the company's department stores.

The license for Batman products was obtained by Matahari from
Warner Bros Consumer Products company in Hong Kong. The products
consist of various products such as T-shirts, caps, bags, towels
and stationery.

Nubertus M. Wirawan, head of Matahari product development,
said that the Batmobile is currently on display at Metropolitan
Mall in Bekasi until Sept. 10, after which it will be sent to
Surabaya for display at Galeria Plaza from Sept. 12 to 20. The
car was on display at Citraland Mall from Aug. 29 to Sept. 3.

Nubertus said that the display of the car is part of the ASEAN
promotion tour to bring the Batman figure closer to his fans.

"The Batman car is made of carbon fiber, the same material
used for the manufacture of Formula One cars and F-16 fighter
jets. The car, which was produced at a cost of Rp 750 million
(US$340,909), has a maximum speed of 500 kilometers per hour," he
