Jakarta (ANTARA) - Batik garments featuring natural dyes from the Jombang region of East Java were showcased during the BTN Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Centre on Friday (31/7). The ‘Akasa Dharani’ collection, designed by Lia Afif and presented during the ‘Luminara’ fashion show at BTN IFW 2026, included one menswear piece and 11 womenswear pieces. The displayed garments consisted of dresses, long outerwear, and blazer tops made from Jombang batik in colours such as navy blue, ice blue, lime yellow, cream, and olive green. Lia stated that her collection represents the harmony between sky and earth. ‘In this collection, I utilised silhouettes, mostly A-line and I-line, using these philosophical colours,’ she said. She also noted the craftsmanship involved, stating, ‘Producing a single batik piece can take over a month, which is a hallmark of Jombang batik.’ Lia expressed her hope that her Jombang batik collection would increase public interest in batik and inspire fashion enthusiasts. BTN IFW 2026 is being held at the Jakarta International Convention Centre from 29 July to 2 August 2026. The fashion event, initiated by the Indonesian Fashion Designers Association (APPMI), carries the theme ‘Ulos Simetria’.
