REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG – A total of 444 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Batch 11 (Kloter 11) at Palembang Embarkation, South Sumatra, directly donned ihram garments from their departure at the Hajj dormitory en route to King Abdul Aziz Airport, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The Head of the South Sumatra Hajj and Umrah Regional Office, M Arkan Nurwahiddin, stated that the policy of wearing ihram garments from Indonesia aims to facilitate the pilgrims in performing the mandatory umrah rituals upon arrival in Mecca.

“Batch 11 is part of the second wave of departures with a direct route to Jeddah. Considering that the miqat is taken on the plane or just before landing, we have instructed the pilgrims to be in ihram from the dormitory for greater efficiency,” said Arkan on Saturday (9/5/2026).

He explained that this year’s Hajj travel technicalities are divided into two phases: the first wave lands in Madinah to perform the Arbain worship first, while the second wave flies directly to Jeddah and immediately carries out the series of mandatory umrah.

Batch 11 consists of pilgrims from the city of Palembang, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, and South OKU Regency. However, of the total scheduled pilgrims, one person named Roainah Yusul Dahalim (76 years old) from OKU was forced to postpone her departure due to health reasons.
