The Batang Industropolis Special Economic Zone (KEK) continues to strengthen its image as a future industrial area through a corporate communications strategy that prioritises innovation, sustainability, and contribution to society and the national industrial ecosystem. This commitment is realised through two communication programmes: The Shenzhen of Indonesia: Transforming Batang into Industrial Tech-Hub and PRIMA (Programme for Future Industrial Pioneering) with the theme Communicating Resilience of the Future of Industry-Integrated Industrial Zone Batang. Both programmes received appreciation at the PR of The Year 2026 event organised by SWA together with MIX Marcom Indonesia Magazine.

The award serves as recognition of the zone’s efforts to build corporate communications that not only convey information about the area’s development, but also strengthen reputation, increase stakeholder trust, and introduce the zone’s contribution to national industrial growth.

Head of Corporate Communication & CSR Department of KEK Industropolis Batang, Tanya Liwail Chamdy, said corporate communication plays an important role in building public understanding of the zone’s transformation and the future direction of industrial development.

‘For us, communication is not merely about conveying what the company does, but about building understanding, trust, and connection with all stakeholders. Therefore, we strive for every communication programme to represent the zone’s transformation while providing perspective on the future of Indonesian industry,’ said Tanya.

Through the narrative of The Shenzhen of Indonesia, KEK Industropolis Batang introduces the vision of transforming the zone into one of Indonesia’s technology-based industrial centres. This narrative is also part of a strategy to introduce Batang’s potential as an area with investment appeal, supported by an industrial ecosystem, infrastructure, and strategic connectivity.

Meanwhile, the PRIMA programme was developed as part of KEK Industropolis Batang’s efforts to communicate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values to the public and stakeholders. The programme highlights aspects of sustainability and resilience of the industrial ecosystem as part of the zone’s transformation process.

According to Tanya, the development of an industrial zone cannot be measured solely by investment growth and economic activity. The ability to build a sustainable ecosystem and provide broader benefits to society is also an important part of measuring the zone’s development.

‘We want to ensure that the zone’s growth goes hand in hand with sustainability and value creation for society. Communication serves as a bridge to convey this process transparently, while opening space for collaboration with the government, investors, the public, the media, and all strategic partners,’ she added.

KEK Industropolis Batang, which has an area of approximately 4,300 hectares, continues to be developed as one of the new economic growth centres in Central Java and Indonesia.

The zone is directed to become a competitive, integrated, and sustainable investment ecosystem with a focus on the industrial and processing, logistics and distribution, and tourism sectors.

The award at PR of The Year 2026 serves as encouragement for KEK Industropolis Batang to continue developing communication strategies relevant to the zone’s development.

Through open and collaborative communication, the zone also seeks to strengthen relationships with various stakeholders while supporting the realisation of a competitive, sustainable industrial zone that contributes to the national economy.
